Mother's Day

[Finders Keepers Top] c/o Dress Cage City, [High-waisted Jeans] Nasty Gal, [Onyx Choker & Lapis Lazuli Ring] c/o Palm Beach Jewelry, [Belt] Vintage 80s, [Edgar Boots] Deandri, [Bone & Tassel Bag] c/o Spell & The Gypsy Collective

This has kind of been my go-to outfit style lately, and this crop top from Dress Cage City is on serious heavy rotation right now. It goes so well with this choker from Palm Beach Jewelry.

I wore this particular outfit to go out with the bestie on Mother's Day. Yes, we should've been with our Moms, but they live back home in the Bay Area and we couldn't make it up there this time. We sent them flowers and called to wish them a Happy Mother's Day though. Per usual, they were busy having too much fun without us. These ladies are why we have indefinite Peter Pan Syndrome.

Thus, we dedicated this Mother's Day to celebrating ourselves for being born (DUH). This commenced in dinner and bar hopping in Silverlake where I live. It was super fun, and I'm really glad I wore these shoes and jeans because we ended up doing a lot of walking.

Also, we saw a lady at the bar cry into her champagne for 20 minutes. Happy Mother's Day indeed.

Reflective

[Vintage Sunnies] c/o Giant Vintage, [Motorpsycho Vest] c/o Kill City, [Jeans] Old--Free People, [Bag] Style Nanda, [Belt] Vintage, [Metal Plate Suede Sandals] c/o 2020AVE, [Hematite Cocktail Ring] c/o Palm Beach Jewelry

I have no idea what my inspiration was for this outfit, biker chick on holiday? Haha. This vest is so super light-weight and flowy that I can't wait to pair it with all of my summer outfits. That's pretty much what I did here! I'm breaking out all of my summer stuff slowly, such as these new sandals and psychedelic sunnies. Can't expect myself to give up my attachment to jeans just yet!

Sheer Madness

[Vintage 90s Grunge Round Sunglasses] c/o Saltwater Gypsy, [Sheer Nude Long Sleeve Top] Style Nanda, [Camisole] REI (can you believe it?), [Cuff Hem Shorts] c/o The Editor's Market, [Knuckle and Squiggle Rings] c/o 2020AVE, [Wedges] ASOS

How to go from casual to classay in 1 second: wear a nude sheer top under your most skimpy camisol. Another tip, apparently go to REI for good quality tank tops? (for those of you who don't know what that is, it's an outdoor gear store, think: camping)

Butterfly

[Butterfly Chart Tank] c/o Orion Theory, [Bag] Style Nanda, [Velvet Leggings] Wet Seal, [Flats] c/o Lulus

It looks like I'm in some crazy city nature reserve or something, but I'm actually in the back of my building! The ivy and bougainvilleas just went so well with this awesome butterfly tank from Orion Theory (thanks Yuka <3). All of their tanks are so cute, can't wait to see what they come up with next!

Urban Flow

Wasn't sure if these boots would work with this (in my opinion) girly outfit, but with the urban downtown LA skyline in the background it somehow flows together. It reminds me of how I've learned to always have something functional about my outfit, whether it be boots instead of heels, or wearing 3 layers just in case the weather changes up on me.

Go Green + Summer Essentials

[Long Cardigan] H&M, [Sunglasses] c/o Saltwater Gypsy, [Button Up Shirt] c/o Willow & Clay, [Rolled Shorts w/belt] Style Nanda, [Vintage Boots] c/o The October Union

It was especially cold for LA the day I took this, but I still was able to wear shorts which was amazing to me. I'm still expecting it to be 45 degrees outside when the sun is gone based on my years in SF. I also am constantly finding new ways to style up these rolled shorts, talk about getting your money's worth!

Well I'd talk more but I would much rather share my summer essentials list! It's kind of a.d.d. & all over the place, but hopefully you get the jist.

Classic With A Twist

[Sunglasses] AJ Morgan bought at a vintage store in SF, [Oversized Light Knit Top] c/o The Editor's Market, [Jeans] c/o Articles of Society, [Bag] Style Nanda, [Boots] c/o The Editor's Market

Growing up, I would read Japanese fashion magazines from Kinokuniya or look at asian fashion websites a lot. Then as I got older I watched the progression of stores like Yes Style and Style Nanda take over the online clothing scene. It's amazing how much asian fashion has influenced the US over the last 5-10 years. What I love most about clothes from asian designers is the fit and cut of the clothes. I also love that they tend to look more unisex, and a lot of times are more monochromatic in color choices. I guess I would describe it as classic with a twist or classic yet modern.

And now I have another store to add to my list, The Editor's Market. They are from Singapore and their stuff is so unique, I mean just look at these sweet boots!

Blog Crush: FAIIINT

I think it's time to start introducing other types of posts on here as it's important for me to feel like a multi-faceted blogger and writer, plus I've been wanting to give props to those in the blog world that inspire me...so here's my first blog crush post!

I decided to start things off with Stephanie from FAIIINT (in England). I love her use of black and layers. In my opinion the strong and sexy look of an all black outfit is as feminine as it gets. Hot pink mini skirts just don't do it for me. Her style is Rick Owens and All Saints-esqe, but with her own personal style mixed in. Need I say more? Also can I live in England now please?

Black Blazer

[Hat] Brixton, [Flower Top] c/o Willow & Clay, [Heather Blazer] c/o Gypsy Warrior, [Velvet Shorts] c/o Lucca Couture, [Bag] Style Nanda, [Shoes] Deandri

There are really unlimited ways to style up a black blazer! I never used to be a blazer-wearer to be honest, I always felt it was too professional looking for me. But after having a few corporate jobs in the past, I definitely see how it can take a simple or casual outfit and make it look more put together and clean in a snap. Probably the main reason why people wear them at all--they are easy.

I've recently made the jump from the corporate world of producing ad campaigns behind the scenes to trying to be in campaigns as a model. It's really interesting being on the front side of the camera now!

I've also recently worked with Willow & Clay (the line that made this adorable blouse) for their Fall lookbook. I'm super excited to share it when it's out!

Pro Art

[Obey Hitchhiker Jacket & Obey Pro Art Craft Top] c/o Lulus, [Shorts & Bag] Style Nanda, [Shoes & Sunglasses] ASOS

I've been waiting forever to get a pair of shorts like these, you know the type that requires a belt to hold it up because it's so baggy? The kind that could almost look like denim diapers although when rolled correctly just look awesome? The same look can be achieved by buying an extra large pair of vintage mens pants, but I loved the way Style Nanda had theirs cut, and the belt it came with was super cute too.

I couldn't think of a better cropped shirt to wear with these shorts than the one I just got from Lulus. It's artsy and crafty and amazing. And so is the hitchhiker jacket they sent me, it goes with everything! It's pretty lightweight so I can still wear it as the weather gets warmer. I'm not sure if I'm ready for the sun in LA come summertime, I'm already sweating like crazy!

Flower Power

[Sunglasses] c/o Giant Vintage, [Flower Dress] c/o SheInside, [Boots] Deandri, [Jewelry] Vintage

When I opened the package with this dress in it, I literally pulled it out and stared at it for what seemed like 20 minutes. The print is like a painting and the colors are so vibrant, plus it's a velvet fabric, which is like wearing a comfy blanket. Nothing better than that! I'm always about the comfy. The only modification I made was cutting out the shoulder pads, because I personally can't rock them like my mom did back in the day.

So, if I didn't say it already, happy Spring! This month of April has already been so packed for me with a few friends birthdays, not to mention my own birthday, new jobs, and visits with family. I've also been working on some behind the scenes things for the blog. Oh! I was recently featured by VFILES on their homepage. Check out my profile here.

VFILES is a NY-based, tumblr/pinterest-esque, cool fashion mag/video site that has awesome fashion content and interviews. Here's some of my favorite videos I've seen recently:

Light Jeans

[Cat Eye Sunglasses] c/o Saltwater Gypsy, [Sweater] c/o She Inside, [Tank Top] Alternative Apparel, [Mya Boxcar Jeans] c/o Articles of Society, [Edgar Boots] Deandri

I am wearing light jeans?? this is a first. I've always been a dark denim or black denim gal, but something in me decided to change it up with these boxcar jeans. I just thought they looked too cute to not try to style. I actually love the way it looks with this droopy sweater and wooden heeled boots. Sometimes it's good to go light!
